Chinese Republic period baluster form porcelain vase decorated in famille rose enamels with three large bird and flower roundels spaced evenly around the shoulder. The roundels feature two birds, two ducks, and two quail set among bamboo and flowering plants. A variety of pastel flowers float against the pale yellow graviata ground which is incised with a tight scrolling foliage pattern. The rim and the roundels are thinly bordered in gilt. The splayed foot ends at the white porcelain base which bears an overglaze red apocryphal zhuanshu Qianlong mark. Early 20th century. 13 3/8" high. Excellent overall condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. There is typical rubbing of the gilt at the trumpet mouth. This vase is from the Albert Ninde estate in Tucson. According to the family, the pieces in the collection were acquired during the 1940s and 1950s when Ninde was an Air Force pilot in China, Japan, and Korea.
