Large late Ming dynasty Wanli period blue and white kraak ware export porcelain deep charger with a foliated rim decorated in the center within an eight-pointed medallion with a jardinière on a stand holding a fruit, peony, and plantain leaf bouquet with a fence in the background. The central design is encircled by a moulded eight panel border on the cavetto with stylized peach branches alternating with Daoist symbols. The back is decorated with eight panels holding lingzhi within a circle. Chatter marks are visible on the glazed base. The foot rim is unglazed and there is embedded dirt and sand on the base. The charger is lightweight for its size. 14 3/8” diameter by 2 7/8” high. Circa early 17th century (1610-1630). There is some characteristic glaze fritting at the edges, a stable original firing crack in the well, and a small rubbed area within the glaze of the well. This charger is from the private collection of a former American expatriate to Guangzhou and Beijing from 1983-1987.
