Japanese Meiji Imari Porcelain Lidded Serving Dish or Large Deep Bowl
item#: 1323450
price: SOLD
Japanese late Meiji period Imari porcelain lidded serving dish or bowl decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze polychrome enamels with gilt highlights. The center of the densely patterned brocade lid features a butterfly among gourds. The bowl is decorated entirely in underglaze blue (sometsuke) and holds three floral sprays about the circumference. The interior is undecorated. Measures about 8 ¾” diameter by 5 7/8” high. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There are a few typical kiln firing imperfections and minor rubbing of the overglaze enamels. This piece is from an old Scottsdale, Arizona collection.
