Japanese late Edo to early Meiji period Imari porcelain deep bowl decorated in underglaze blue and overglaze polychrome enamels and gilt highlights with panels of pomegranates, birds, and flowers extending around an unusual floral center. The exterior features a narrow polychrome band holding alternating scrolls and peaches at the center of two underglaze blue bands, one holding butterflies and blue waves. A double foot ring is on the base, dating this bowl circa 1840-1870. 7 1/4” diameter x 3 3/8” high. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Minor wear to the gilt and overglaze enamels. From a Tubac, Arizona collection.
