Black silk decorative borders accent the front opening, side slits, and neck. Sleeve cuffs are embroidered in bats, peaches and gold calligraphy set against a purple-blue ground. The silk lining is light blue. Early 20th century. Measures about 52 1/2” sleeve end to sleeve end and 35” long. Very good color and clean overall condition with only minor loose stitches. The lining shows some soiling and wear but is intact. The loop at the silk frog closure at the neck is torn. From the collection of William D. Cooley by descent. Cooley lived in Shanghai from 1929 to 1934 where he worked for Radio Corporation of America (RCA) installing sound in theaters.
