Japanese small format surimono woodblock print by French artist Paul Jacoulet (1902-1960) titled "Chagrins d'Amour. Kusaie, Est Carolines" (Sorrows of Love. Kusaie, East Carolines) published October 26, 1940. The full size image is illustrated on page 60 (plate 70) of “The Prints of Paul Jacoulet” by Richard Miles, 1982 and is described on page 105. Paper size: 5 7/8" x nearly 4 1/8" (image size: 5 9/16” x 3 3/4"). Very good overall condition. There is a thin strip of paper adhering to the top back margin edge where the print had previously been tipped to a Christmas card. There is slight waviness to the paper at the center top and the vertical edges of the image are faintly darker, suggesting possible slight fading. A tiny flea bite is out of the bottom margin.
