Japanese chuban format shin hanga woodblock print by Takahashi Shotei, also known as Hiroaki (1871 - 1945) depicting two figures in the foreground, one carrying a lantern. Across the water and backed by tall trees, the windows of a traditional Japanese home are lit. Titled "Night Scene of Mabashi, near Tokyo," the print was published by Watanabe prior to 1936. The title and artist's red Shotei seal are at the upper left. Paper size: 9 7/8” x 7 1/8” (including small margins). This image is cataloged as #C-9 on the informative website www.shotei.com. The print is in very good overall condition with nice color. The baren marks are plainly visible on the back.
