Chinese Qing Dynasty Sang-de-boeuf Oxblood Flambe Porcelain Censer
item#: 1476904
price: SOLD
Chinese late Qing dynasty sang-de-boeuf (oxblood) flambé glazed cylindrical form censer. The oxblood glaze drips inside at the rim above the thick off-white glaze lining the interior. The censer rests upon vestiges of three small tripod legs. The base is unglazed and has burnt orange. As is typical of late 19th century examples, the base shows evidence where the glaze ran off the base and was broken off the kiln supports. 7 3/8” diameter x 5 1/2” high. Very good overall condition. There are some minor surface scratches in the glaze and characteristic production imperfections. It sits slightly at an angle. From a Paradise Valley, Arizona estate.
