Japanese limited edition woodblock print by Morihiro Sato (b. 1943) depicting white bellflowers. A student of Joichi Hoshi who was influenced by Hoshi's use of metallic pigments, the artist set the flowers and partial moon (or sun) against a metallic background. Depending upon the lighting conditions (see image taken with flash) the background appears either golden or silver. The print is pencil-titled in kanji "Autumn (Bellflowers)" and numbered 3/55 at the lower left. It is signed and dated '88 in pencil at the lower right with the artist's red seal within the image above it. Paper: 13" x 17" (image: 11 1/2" x 15 1/4"). Very good overall condition. There are pencil notations verso and the tip of the lower left margin corner is bent.
