Two antique steel-line engravings drawn by Thomas Allom (1804-1872) and engraved by Arthur Willmore (1814-1888) titled “Chinese Boatman Economizing Time & Labour, Poo-kou” and "The Fortress of Terror, Ting-hai" from “China in a Series of Views” published in London in 1843 and reprinted through 1859. The images were derived from sketches executed on the spot by Captain Stoddart, R. N. Purchased from Teresa Coleman Fine Arts in Hong Kong, with the certificate of authentication included. Visible paper size: 5 3/4" x 7 3/4" and 7 3/4" x 5 7/8" (frame size: 13 1/2” x 16 1/4”). Very well framed with UV glass and gold moulding. Both prints appears to be in very good overall condition with some slight discoloration in a few places and on Poo-kou toward the edges near the mat.
