Chinese Qing dynasty circular form lidded box finely decorated in pencil-thin strokes of underglaze blue on a white porcelain ground. The center of the domed lid features a nobleman on horseback flanked by an attendant walking in front and behind. The rounded sides are filled with a dense, repeating motif of figures seated at a table. A double circle is on the center of the glazed base. 4 1/2" diameter x 2 1/2" high. 19th century. Very good overall condition. There is a small chicken foot hairline crack on the inside of the lid and a few minor production flaws at the foot and rim. Old tags from the Lempertz Auction in Germany are in the interior lid. From the estate of Gerhard Lohmeier, a Diplomat at the German Embassy in Beijing from 1985 to 1989.
