Chinese Qing Kangxi Blue & White Porcelain Dragon Phoenix Ribbed Jar
item#: 1494285
price: SOLD
Chinese Qing dynasty Kangxi period oval form jar decorated in underglaze blue with four alternating four-clawed dragon and phoenix roundels set against a white ground with fine vertical ribs. A band holding precious objects is at the bottom and a band of four blue floral cartouches set against a geometric ground surrounds the wide mouth. An unreadable square mark within two double circles is on the glazed base. The stepped foot is unglazed. Very heavily potted (weighs 6 lbs.). 8 5/8" high. Good overall condition. The mouth appears to have been ground down leaving a smooth, irregular edge. The glazed interior has one fine short brown production hairline crack. From the estate of Gerhard Lohmeier, a Diplomat at the German Embassy in Beijing from 1985 to 1989.
