Japanese shin hanga woodblock print titled “Egrets in Rain” by Ohara Koson (1878-1945), also known as Shoson, published by Watanabe in 1926. This is a post-war edition with the Watanabe 6mm circular seal (used 1946-1957) at the lower right corner beneath the artist's signature and seal. Paper: 15 3/8" x 10 3/8" (image: 14 3/8" x 9 1/2"). Very good overall condition with embossed highlights in the egrets' wings. Very faintly sunstruck. The upper margin corner is slightly thinned in a few small places at the upper left corner, center, and right corner edge, perhaps when it was removed from an original paper folder. There is a small tape stain below the Watanabe seal. This print is color illustrated as plate 158, page 154 of “Cranes, Crows, and Camellias.”
